City Sidewalks Photo Shoot

City Sidewalks Photo Shoot

The “City Sidewalks” photo shoots will be set up like a scavenger hunt. Yes, you heard right, a scavenger hunt but we will be scavenging for images. Interested? Here is how it works. Each group of two or three (if you are paired up with a friend that will be fine otherwise you will be assigned team members) will get a map of the city pinpointing different locations to shoot and our meet-up spots. Each team will go to each location that is outlined on the map and photograph something or things from that spot being as creative as they can, taking as many images as they would like. We will shoot the first location together as a group and I will give you some tips and ideas for getting creative images and making the best of your day. Then each group will move onto the next location of their choice doing the same. Lunch will be on your own. What will keep this interesting is that there will be no order for the locations given so each team will head off on their own in whatever direction they choose collecting images from every stop off. Finally we will meet up for a 3:00pm early dinner at one of Little Italy’s Mulberry Street restaurants for an authentic Italian dinner where we will have a chance to look at each others images and exchange ideas etc. Then if there is a location you’d like to go back to you’ll have time on your own.

This will be an all day shoot. Participants must meet at the specified meet up location at 10:00am sharp. You should have your own gear in a backpack and be mindful that this is NYC and crime is something you should be very aware of. We will be shooting in highly populated areas for our safety. You should have your cell phones with you as we will be in contact via cell phones. Each participant will be responsible for knowing their own equipment. Bring extra batteries and cards, a tripod if you like. I will not be taking a cab to your location unless it is an emergency so if you feel you need extra assistance composing your images than you should plan on staying with me-but do know this is a photo shoot and not a workshop. Each participant will be responsible for his or her own means of transportation between locations; all locations will be within walking distance to each other however the walk may be too long for some. Taxi cabs are readily available.

The idea behind this shoot is to get you out for a day of fun and inspire you to step out of the box a little, pushing you as a photographer to really be creative and think on the fly. Capture any subject using any style you like (nothing obscene). I will pass out the pinpoint location maps to each participant in the morning at the meet-up location and not before. This will keep it fair.

After the photo shoot all participants will have 2 days to submit one image that has been processed however they like. Each image that is submitted will be posted on my blog and a winner will be announced. The photographer with the winning image will receive the cost of their admission ticket-$195.00 plus a free copy of my eBook- “A Guide to Creative Filters and Effects”. They will also receive a $50.00 credit towards the next scavenger hunt.
