New Color Fringe Correction Controls

New Color Fringe Correction Controls

One of the new enhancements to Lightroom 4.1 RC2 is the addition of new color fringe correction controls. What exactly is a color fringe correction? This blog post is intended to explain the problem and the solution we’ve provided in Lightroom 4.1.(For ACR customers it will also be included an upcoming version of ACR7 for Photoshop CS6, currently available as a public beta). The content in this post has been written by Eric Chan, the developer primarily responsible for implementing the solution.

Scott Kelby on Adobe Creative Cloud

http://scottkelby.com/2012/my-adobe-creative-cloud-quick-qa/

But before we get to the questions, I thought I would at least try to explain, in one brief paragraph, what the Creative Cloud is. Here’s how I understand it:
“It’s two things: (1) You can pay a monthly fee and get to download onto your computer, and use, full versions of all of Adobe’s Creative Suite software (everything from the latest Photoshop to After Effects to Dreamweaver to Premiere Pro, and so on [I think it’s 26 programs in all). As long as you pay your monthly membership, you get to use any (or all) of their software programs. And (2) You get a number of Web services including things like Cloud syncing, Adobe’s Business Catalyst Web hosting, storage and online collaberation stuff among others (a list of which I’m sure will grow pretty quickly).”

A Thorough Guide to Lightroom Catalog Management

A Thorough Guide to Lightroom Catalog Management

"If you’re familiar with Adobe’s popular Lightroom software, you have probably heard all of the talk about catalogs. Catalogs are Lightroom’s system for storing image edit data. Different photographers have different approaches to managing their photo libraries, and the talk about catalogs is a highly debated one. Today, we are going to take a look at the options of using multiple or single catalogs"

Adobe released a public beta of Lightroom 4

Adobe today released a public beta of Lightroom 4. It is available immediately for free download from Adobe Labs. The beta version has a books creation module (to compete with what Aperture has had for a while), increased support for video files (high time), soft proofing capability (now you can see what it is going to look like when printed) and a Google Maps-powered geo-tagging module (this one will be fun). You can download the beta from the Adobe Labs site by clicking here.

Starting with Photoshop CS6, which is anticipated to ship in 2012, Adobe will be enforcing a new upgrade policy

For those of you that use Photoshop but do not own CS5
If you thinking about upgrading from CS2,3,4 to CS6 please note that Adobe's upgrade policy is about to change...

The existing policy for upgrades allows you to purchase the newest version at the upgrade price if you up to three major releases back! This will be no more, now the upgrade price will only be available if you own the previous release!

You might want to consider taking advantage of their 20% off on upgrades now and get CS5 if you own older versions...

Adobe revamps upgrade policy for Photoshop CS6, other CS6 applications
Saturday, November 12, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
Starting with Photoshop CS6, which is anticipated to ship in 2012, Adobe will be enforcing a new upgrade policy. The existing practice is to allow customers to purchase the newest version at the upgrade price if they own an existing version up to three major releases back.

To upgrade to Photoshop CS6 or any other Creative Suite 6 application at the upgrade price, however, you will need to own a license to the previous major release (in this case, CS5, CS5.1 and CS5.5 are all considered to be the same version). Earlier major version releases will not be eligible for upgrade pricing.
For more information on the new upgrade policy, the 20% discount available on existing upgrades through the end of the year as well as Adobe's subscription plan alternative, see the following articles:

Updates Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2

Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2 are now available as Release Candidates on Adobe Labs. (Download here: Lightroom 3.2, Camera Raw 6.2, including the DNG Converter 6.2) The ‘release candidate’ label indicates that this update is well tested but would benefit from additional community testing before it is distributed automatically to all of our customers.

WAIT! What happened to Lightroom 3.1? Well, it never happened. In order to simplify the presentation of updates for raw file format compatibility, the Lightroom and Camera Raw “dot” version numbers have been aligned at “2″. We update the Camera Raw plug-in and Lightroom regularly to provide access to new proprietary raw file formats and have aligned the decimal place so that there’s no confusion over which Lightroom update corresponds to a Camera Raw plug-in update and vice versa.

The final releases of Lightroom 3.2 and Camera Raw 6.2 may have additional corrections or camera support.

CS5 Pre-Release

Wow! Thanks Rick for passing this along!!

Hi Lisa,
I’ve attached a Word document that summarizes links to CS5 from your blog with some additional info.
Rick

For all you Photoshop mavens, the long-awaited CS5 (White Rabbit) is almost here. I have 4 links below with brief descriptions above them (links originally from Lisa’s blogs). I’ve been a beta-tester of the expanded pre-release version of Adobe Photoshop CS5. Because of the non-disclosure document I agreed to, I wasn’t able to say anything about this until about 2 weeks ago. I still can’t mention any of the features or even show the interface until April 12. But at that time, everyone will be able to see the launch (the link at the bottom). Because one of the features, Content Aware Fill, is all over the Internet and was also shown at the NAPP conference in Orlando, I can talk about this one. It will save you an immense amount of time in retouching! I can only marvel at the algorithms that went into the programming code to do this. Take a look at these links. - Rick
