Lighting for Portraits and Events with Francesco Mastalia

The workshop will focus on using a variety of techniques and approaches with portable lighting as well as working with natural light to help you create unique images with personal style for whatever project you want to tackle. When photographing people, we don't always have the time to set up elaborate lighting. We will learn how to work quickly with a minimal amount of equipment and explore what to look for when using natural light. We will also discuss how to make people comfortable in front of the camera, as well posing and not posing people to create natural looking portraits. Other topics covered will be what equipment works the best and easiest and how to market yourself to get more work. Bring your cameras and up to 10 photographs you would like to share.
This fast paced workshop is for any level of photographer who wants to learn more about lighting for portraits, products or events. This is a great opportunity to study with a photographer especially known for his wedding and portrait work. Participants should already know how their cameras work.
Francesco Mastalia is an internationally published documentary photographer whose career in photography spans over 25 years. Traveling around the world, he has captured portraits of diverse cultures of tribal, religious, indigenous and spiritual people. In addition to his role as a lecturer his photography has been exhibited throughout the United States.
