Carl Heilman

From Carl Heilman

It's early summer here in the Adirondack mountains. Snow is all gone and it's green the whole way to the top of the peaks. Tomorrow they are saying highs only in the 50's - but then back to the 70's next week.

First, for those in the Capital District area of NY, our recent AV show, 'I Am The Adirondacks' will be broadcast on WMHT twice in the next week at 5 PM on Sunday June 6, and again at 10 PM on Friday, June 11. This is our most recent program on the Adirondacks, with a narrative based on a poem by Miriam Kashiwa, that offers an 'Adirondacks' perspective.

Second, we're just a couple of weeks away from the pub date for my new book, Contemporary Landscape Photography on June 22. We have scheduled a 'Book Release Day' with The Wild Center in Tupper Lake on Wed. July 7. I'll be doing a 1 1/2 hour public presentation at 2 PM in the Flammer Theater, 'Outdoor Photography: Tips, Techniques, and Creative Effects. I'll be available to sign books before and after the presentation, and then am doing a 4 hour photo tour at 5 PM (reservation only). I look forward to seeing you there!

I also wanted to mention the wonderful new Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne and their full schedule for teaching all kinds of crafts related to the Adirondack region. They have a good strong vision, and I look forward to working with them on workshops in the future. They are having a grand opening on July 5th, when I'll be doing a presentation, along with Chris Shaw and other regional artists. Have a look at http://www.adirondackfolkschool.org/ .

And please pass the address along to anyone you think might be interested!

Best regards,
Carl
