This presentation is designed for anyone who always wanted to discover the sky but didn't know exactly how to get started. Telescopes are really simple but each one does some things better than others. In this presentation, we'll help you select the best scope for your needs without making costly mistakes.
Subjects covered: How the Earth turns (and why you care), tracking objects as they move, types of telescope mounts, types of telescope optics, light gathering and performance, magnification requirements, what can I see? And computer control (automatic astronomy)
At the completion of this two-hour seminar, the aspiring astronomer will be prepared to purchase the right equipment considering their expectations, location, and budget.
