High Basic Performance The D600 comes equipped with a Multi-CAM 4800 autofocus sensor module. 39 focus points acquire and track the subjects precisely and the nine cross-type sensors cover the most frequently used center area to deliver higher subject-acquisition performance. Moreover, the seven focus points (five central focus points and one point to the left and right of them in the middle line) are compatible with f/8. Stress-free and smooth focusing is realized with the 1.4x or 1.7x teleconverter and precise focusing is possible even with the effective aperture value of f/8 by attaching a 2.0x teleconverter to telephoto lenses with maximum aperture of f/4. Comfortable AF shooting is realized for shooting wild birds or trains, for example, from a long distance at high magnification. AF area can be selected from single-point AF, dynamic-area AF (9 points, 21 points, 39 points), 3D-tracking and auto-area AF. Combined with the Scene Recognition System utilizing a 2,016-pixel RGB sensor that recognizes smaller subjects, the D600 shows higher subject-tracking and subject-identification performance. Furthermore, it is possible to choose an 11-point option by using custom settings. This is convenient for selecting a focus point quickly.
