Caribbean Garden Is Heating Up
The New York Botanical Garden
January 15 - February 27, 2011
Escape to the tropics without leaving New York City!
Nestled like an island getaway within the Garden’s elegant frozen landscape, the newly refurbished Enid A. Haupt Conservatory comes alive with exotic beauty in Caribbean Garden, a reinterpretation of the Conservatory’s permanent collection.
Be sure to bring your camera—Garden photography experts will be on hand every Saturday throughout the show to share the hottest tips and techniques that will have you capturing the beauty of nature like a pro. Get more information on Caribbean Garden.

You'll Even Have Pictures to Take Home
During Caribbean Garden, we're running a special contest especially for our shutterbug visitors. Every Saturday during Caribbean Garden, Garden photography experts, including professional photographer and NYBG instructor Rich Pomerantz, will be on location in the Conservatory to demonstrate some of the best techniques for snapping pictures of beautiful flowers and foliage in every kind of light.
Once you've taken your best shot, join the Garden over on the photo sharing website Flickr and upload your photos from the Caribbean Garden and add them to our Group Pool. Each week, from January 15 through February 27, we'll run a contest through Flickr, in two categories: Macro shot and Sense of Place shot. At the end of six weeks, the six weekly winners in each category will be pitted against one another and two grand prize winners will win a place in an upcoming spring semester photography class offered through the Garden's Adult Education program. Only photographs taken during the Caribbean Garden can be entered into the contest and you, the visitor, will determine the winners! See the full details here.
