FIELD TRIP TO TOWNSHEND, VERMONT
WEEKEND OF MAY 17, 18, and 19, 2013
Email Audrey if you want to attend: aaweigold@sbcglobal.net
Ollie Weingart and Audrey Weigold have arranged a field trip to see the
Friesians of Majesty horses perform. The performance is indoors but
there should be fairly good light for photos and flash is allowed. We
need 30 people total to keep this trip just for photographers. We have
22 people from Charter Oak and need 8 more people to fill the trip, but
are willing to take 10 more in total. We only have until March 30th to
get the entire group together.
The cost for our time at the farm is $25 per person which includes the
performance, an elegant carriage ride for each person, plus a guided
tour of the European style barns including the spring foals. They expect
13 new foals with the first one to come in March and the last to foal
in June. There will be ample time to photograph around the paddocks
provided we can get our 30 people and have the place to ourselves. Plus
we can photograph the carriage rides since the carriage only hold about
four at a time.
Check out the website at www.friesiansofmajesty.com and click on
Performances and there is place to click on a sample performance. Also
watch the movie on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYdtKw5gZtI
to see these beautiful horses. We have also booked an entire motel for
the nights of May 17th and 18th, however they only have 16 rooms. Eleven
rooms with 2 double beds and five rooms with king size beds. The motel
is River Bend Lodge in Newfane, Vermont www.riverbendlodgevt.com. The
phone number is 1-802-365-7952. The Lodge is under new management and
each room has been redone and newly furnished. The price per night at
that time is $98.90 plus tax and they have agreed to discount our rooms
by 25%. The price includes a complete breakfast. They will hold all
rooms for us until March 30th so make your reservations pronto. Be sure
to tell them you are in the Charter Oak group or you will not get in.
Friesians of Majesty is about 15-20 minutes from the Lodge.
As an added treat, the Lodge is owned by the man that also owns
Winchester Stables which is just a short distance from the Lodge.
Winchester Stables is the Southern Vermont Therapeutic Riding Center and
has beautiful grounds, paddocks, and horses. The folks that run the
Lodge for the owner are going to arrange for us to photograph at
Winchester Stables.
We are asking everyone who plans to go to pay the $25 in advance so we
have a complete commitment since we have to guarantee 30 people. The
event goes rain or shine. There will be no refunds unless for some
reason the trip is cancelled or if we have 30 people and there is a
replacement for the cancellation.
Make your checks payable to Audrey Weigold and send them to 29 Wallens Hill Road, Winsted, CT 06098-1379.
