Getty Images Creative Grants

2012 Getty Images Photography Grants

Getty Images supports photographers who use their talents to promote positive change in our world by awarding each year two Getty Images Creative Grants and five Grants for Editorial Photography.
Getty Images Creative Grants

Grants:

The Getty Images Creative Grants provide two grants of $15,000 annually, to cover photographer (or filmmaker) and agency costs as they work together to create compelling new imagery for the nonprofit of their choice. Grant recipients may use the entire award to offset shoot expenses, or donate all or part of the funds directly to their charity and contribute their own time and resources to their campaign. At the completion of the project, all three partners: the photographer (or filmmaker), nonprofit and the communications agency involved will be showcased to the media and to Getty's customers.

Eligibility:

Photographers or filmmakers who are presently engaged in the business of creating and selling or licensing creative, conceptual imagery, and marketing or advertising communications agencies or individual professionals who create communication campaigns for nonprofits are eligible to receive this grant. Contributors to Getty Images creative collections are eligible. Getty Images employees may not apply. Photographers or filmmakers who work in documentary or reportage styles are not eligible, but are encouraged to apply for Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography. Any party on a grant application may appear on only one grant application per year. New for 2012 is that nonprofits may not act as their own communications agency for the purpose of this grant. The participation of a separate communications agency is required.

Deadline: March 1st, 2012
Grants for Editorial Photography

Grants:

Getty Images offers five grants of $20,000 each to provide photojournalists with funding to pursue projects of personal and journalistic significance.

Eligibility:
Applicants must be presently engaged as a professional photojournalist. A professional photojournalist, for the purposes of the Getty Images Grants for Editorial Photography, is one who derives the majority of his or her income from documenting issues and events through still photography. Applicants may apply as individuals or teams. Getty Images employees may not apply. Contributors to Getty Images who are not employees are eligible.

Deadline: May 1st, 2012

Emerging Talent

Getty Images is also offering an opportunity for student photographers to be added to the Emerging Talent roster on Reportage by Getty Images, and receive mentoring from Reportage editors. To apply, please email a CV or bio, your personal and school contact information, and a website or low res selection of 15-25 images to studentgrants@gettyimages.com. The deadline will be May 1.
