International Help-Portrait day is on 04 December 2010

A message to all members of Help-Portrait Community

It's that time of year. The International Help-Portrait day is on 04 December 2010 and we couldn't be more excited to see what this year will bring. Last year we saw 3449 photographers and 4888 volunteers in 38 countries, across 543 locations, give 40,536 portraits. Wow! The power of the photography community is astounding. Imagine...

It's easy and it changes lives...literally. Now get out there and rally your photography friends and communities to give back this Holiday season. Trust us, it's more blessed to give than receive. Guaranteed.

As we turn our attention to what 2010 will bring, we have some announcements:

1. Tonight, we relaunched a completely redesigned Help-Portrait website. While we are excited about the new look and features, we're just getting started and will be rolling out new enhancements over the next few weeks. Inside you'll find some new pages that we hope will be helpful to you:

* Downloads

* Blog

2. Don't forget to stop by our refreshed COMMUNITY site as well. While there aren't many changes in the functionality of this section, it is sporting a nice new look that actually makes the site a lot easier to use.

If you've been by recently, you might have seen that we talked about taking down the current community section. We've decided to NOT do this and will phase it out in late 2011.

3. Help-Portrait is officially a non-profit! Because of our growth and need to protect the brand, we officially formed the HELP-PORTRAIT, INC non-profit. How does this affect you? It won't, except that we can now accept donations and provide receipts for most cash and in-kind donations. More on this later.

4. BIG announcements are coming soon. So, we've been working behind the scenes for the past couple of months to secure some US based partnerships which should make participating in H-P a lot easier and less costly. Sorry non-US folks, we haven't had a lot of interest from international partners yet. Look for these to come in the next week or two. Trust us, you'll love it!

Finally, we couldn't have had the success that we had last year without your help. Together, we had over 4000 photographers, 5000 volunteers, in 38 countries, in over 700 locations, give away over 41,000 portraits. While we were all surprised at what happened when the photography community rallied together, we now know your potential and ask you to step up again.
