Here is a chance to really experience the way your grandparents traveled around town. The 2012 Antique car show and trolley rides provide an opportunity to see the vehicles your father or grandfather drove, and experience a ride on a trolley car of the same period. On display will be cars that date from 1892 to 1936, operating that day will be trolleys from the 1920’s to the late 1930’s.
A special feature this year is trolley car 775 that was built in 1904 and operated on the very line that Shore Line trolley Museum uses today.Car 775 was used extensively in New Haven and surrounding communities. Car 775 is new this year to our operational fleet after eight years of repairs.
The antique cars are parked in the parking lot of Sprague Station; there is still plenty of free parking. As an added feature there will be coffee And available in the morning hours and lunch will be available as well. Listen to music of the period while you tour the antique cars, take a ride in one of the 100 year old trolley cars along some of the most beautiful salt marshes in Connecticut.
The antique auto show starts at 9 AM the first trolley leaves at 10 AM for a 45 minute ride and tour. The tour this year includes viewing car 316 that has never been on display before this year. The self guided tour this year includes the re-opening of our shop overlook area. Get a firsthand look at hour trolley cars are cared for and repaired in our shop.
Cars can arrive at the museum earlier in the morning; cost of cars is $10.00 which includes two free passes for the trolleys all day, a $20.00 value. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 100 cars and the trophies will be awarded about 3 PM. Rain date is set at May 20th.
Admission rates: Adults $10.00 Seniors (62+) $8.00 Children (2-15) $6.00 Don’t forget to bring your camera, as always at the museum, take as many photos as you want. In addition the museum exhibits will be open as well as the theater and our gift shop and plenty of free parking in the museum parking lot.
The car show is offered by the Shore Line trolley Museum as a fund raiser to support the operations and maintenance of the museums 95 trolley cars. Proceeds help promote the museums efforts to preserve the trolley car history. For additional information call 203-467-6927
