WHITE HORSES OF THE CAMARGUE, France.
April 15 -22, 2012
Group size limited to 14 (Two Instructors) Adam Jones & Jim Zuckerman
Tour cost: $3875 (Single supplement: $1375)
Even if you don’t ride horses, you have to appreciate their beauty and grace when they are in motion. They are magnificent, powerful, and very exciting to photograph.
In the Spring of 2012, I am co-leading a photo workshop with Jim Zuckerman to photograph the white horses of the Camargue.
This is a marshy region in southern France where the horses have been living for 5000 years. The Romans
knew them, and whenever you see a painting of Napolean rearing on a white horse, he was riding one of these wonderful horses.
During the workshop, we will photograph them running through a marsh, running in the surf at the beach, and running free in a field. In addition, we will have a session with mothers and foals (the young horses are born black and it takes them five years to turn white). We will have six sessions with them at sunrise and sunset to take advantage of the best lighting, and this very special photo opportunity may very well produce some of the best images you’ve ever taken. This will constitute the first half of the workshop, and the latter half will include photographing some of southern France’s most beautiful towns and villages. We will also visit a beautifully preserved Roman aquaduct, and we will do twilight photography to capture the stunning combination of a cobalt blue sky with the golden artificial lights on medieval architecture.
My co-leader in this workshop is Jim Zuckerman, a sensational photographer and extremely knowledgeable instructor. Jim and I complement each other, and you’ll benefit tremendously from our 80 years of combined experience in photography.
Tour cost: $3875 (Single supplement: $1375)
Price includes all lodging, six photo sessions with the white horses, all ground transportation, all breakfasts, two dinners, and photo instruction. Price does not include international and domestic airfare, meals except those noted above, tips, drinks, alcoholic beverages, and items of a personal nature.
