Nā Pali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii - Greg Downing
With its unforgettable blend of multi-colored sea cliffs, fertile valleys and remote beaches this fifteen-mile stretch of rugged coastline on the northwest shore of Kauai literally means "the Cliffs." Much of the rugged coastline is inaccessible due to its characteristic sheer cliffs that drop thousands of feet into the ocean below. Exploring and photographing Nā Pali via an open-air door-less helicopter affords the photographer unprecedented and crystal clear opportunities to capture some of the most dramatic scenery on the entire Hawaiian island of Kauai. It's a photographic adventure most can only dream of, and one I won't soon forget!
Join Greg, along with E.J. Peiker, next spring and experience the Nā Pali coast via a private helicopter charter designed for photographers. Check the workshops section of NatureScapes for more info!
Equipment Used: EOS 5D, 24-105, 1/1600 @ f4, ISO 400 - shot hand held from an open air helicopter.
