How to Photograph the Landscape at Night Worcester, MA

How to Photograph the Landscape at Night

Program Description

Some of Nature’s most spectacular beauty is reserved for the landscape at night. And at night, the camera allows us to record phenomena we are physically incapable of seeing. Long exposures capture celestial objects in motion, creating metaphors for the passage of time and seasons. They register incredible detail and rich colors. The photographer can’t be sure what he or she will create, and that’s part of the allure and the excitement!
Night shooting specialist Mark Bowie, author of The Light of Midnight: Photographing the Landscape at Night, will lead an indoor instructional session followed by a nighttime field session. He’ll cover strategies, tips and techniques, including:

• Camera settings — RAW, BULB, ISO, white balance
• Consulting the histogram
• Composing and focusing in the dark
• Using LiveView at night
• Determining nighttime exposures
• High ISO test shots
• Shooting long exposures by ambient light
• Shooting time intervals
• Shooting base exposures and multiple exposures
• “Painting” with artificial light
• Photographing moonlit landscapes, the stars, planets, meteors, the Northern Lights and other celestial phenomena
• Photographing lightning and fireworks
• Noise Reduction in-camera and in post-processing
• Processing night images
• Combining multiple exposures, Layer Masks

How to Use Content-Aware Move in Photoshop CS6

One of the more cutting-edge features delivered in Photoshop CS6 Beta is the brand new Content-Aware Move Tool. The concept of this tool is that you will be able to select objects in your image and move them around and Photoshop will do all the edge work and re-blend your object (face, person, building, car, etc... etc...) into whatever part of the image you move it to. The tool is a far cry from being perfect and often time's takes a little tweaking and playing with to get a great result. We're going to take a look at the tool and its features so you have an understanding of how it works and how it will be able to work for you. We'll also run over a few less-than-optimum situations to help you get accustomed to dealing with some of the rougher edges where this tool probably will not do much good for you. Let's get started and take a look at this exciting new feature of Photoshop. How to Use Content-Aware Move in Photoshop CS6

Read more: http://digital-photography-school.com/5-tips-for-shooting-landscapes-with-greater-impact#ixzz1vnfhqCRO

Hands down, the number one question I get is how to make better landscape images. Many fall into the new-gear trap thinking that when I upgrade to some new DSLR then I’ll be able to take better pictures. They buy the gear and suddenly the wind drops from their sails and their images still lack impact. So let’s talk about some things you can do to make your landscape photos pop.

On-line course The Softer Side of Macro with Denise Ippolito

The Softer Side of Macro by Denise Ippolito an on-line course

This course covers all the basics needed to create my signature soft approach to flowers. I’ll explain all my techniques for capturing and creating this pleasing side of macro photography. If you like the soft dreamy looking flower images but have had trouble recreating them then this course is for you. The use of reflectors and natural lighting will be covered. Composition and “seeing” your subject in a new light will also be covered. The use of flash will not be covered in this course. During this 4 week course we will go over how f-stops and shutter speed will affect your image as well as lighting direction and creative thinking. So put your gardening gloves down and get out your camera –let’s create some beautiful images together.

How does this course work? Each week you will be sent a PDF of information outlining your assignments along with all the information you will need to complete the weekly assignment. At the end of the week you will submit images for critique to the instructor. Your instructor (in this case Denise) will critique the images and give you her thoughts and suggestions for improvement. You will then move on to the next step. Due to schedules and time constraints students will be asked to complete the weekly assignment in a timely manner..

of natural lighting and the many possibilities there are to create beautiful looking

This blog post is intended to explain the problem and the solution we’ve provided in Lightroom 4.1.(For ACR customers it will also be included an upcoming version of ACR7 for Photoshop CS6, currently available as a public beta). The content in this post has been written by Eric Chan, the developer primarily responsible for implementing the solution.
